This year, the Staff Welfare Committee did the following:

 

  1. Gathered data on compensation for staff at Saint Michael's College.  Target date for SWC’s recommendations for compensation adjustments/increases:  September 2008. 

 

  1. Responded to 5 suggestions/inquiries which were posted to the SWC Web Suggestion Box.

 

  1. Held introductory meeting with President Jack Neuhauser.

 

  1. Met with HR administrators on staff compensation issues, including salary wage grades, annual increases, and targeted adjustments.

 

  1. Enrollment trends – data presented by Jacki Murphy to inform demographic realities as they relate to economic conditions at SMC.

 

  1. SWC Summer elections 2008 completed.  Staff Welfare Committee Members for 2008-2009: 

Maureen Dakin, Sarah Gabriele, Laurie Gagne, Kathy Godlewski, Angela Irvine, Cynthia Kelley, Jacki Murphy, Stephanie Noakes, Ingrid Peterson, Ed Poland, Garry Smith, Alan Sutton.

 

Objectives for 2008-2009:

 

  1. Recommend comprehensive compensation adjustments/increases
  2. Advocate for the completion and publication of SMC salary grades and levels, with the Staff Welfare Committee in an advisory role.
  3. Review parental leave guidelines

 

Members of the Staff Welfare Committee wish to express their gratitude to Tina Tenney and Mike New for their support of the work of the SWC and their responsive follow-through on requests for additional information and attendance at designated SWC meetings.
