It has
been an exciting spring in the Psychology Department:
•
The
5th Annual Symposium was a huge
success with 52
students exhibiting their senior research projects.
•
We dedicated the Krikstone Laboratory
for Behavior
Science in honor of Dr. Barry Krikstone for all of his
service
to the department over 35 years.
•
27 students were inducted into Psi Chi, the national honor
society for the study of Psychology and five psychology
students were installed into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s
oldest academic honor society.
The academic year is over, but the department is busy. Two
professors received grants for research with students over the
summer and throughout the next school year. Professor Ari
Kirshenbaum and three students will examine neurological effects of
psychomotor stimulants and Professor Anthony Richardson received a
grant from NASA for the coming year to study spatial orientation
with student researchers. Professor Jeff Adams will be a presenter
at a week-long seminar called “Substantially Catholic” at Marist
College. Professor Ron Miller presented a paper on the
quasi-judicial approach to clinical case study research on an
international panel at the Society for Psychotherapy Research Annual
Meeting held this year in Barcelona, Spain. I am presenting papers
at the National Women’s Studies Conference and the National
Association of Women in Catholic Education.
We are also planning for next year so watch for events
in the Fall e-newsletter. We are excited to
have Saul Kassin, a national expert on terrorism as a speaker next
April. You're invited to join us for any event and welcome
suggestions and comments about what you are doing.
Enjoy the summer.
Sincerely,
Susan Kuntz
