Next year I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a master of science in criminology. This program is designed to provide hands on experience for the development of skills for analyzing crime data, mapping crime patterns, and using research to make evidence-based decisions on how to address crime. Upon completion of the program I will be applying for federal government positions that will allow me to use the skills that I will gain for the prevention of crime.

After leaving Saint Michael's I am hoping to be move onto graduate school for clinical psychology with a concentration in the forensics field. I am currently in the application process and hope to accomplish this goal. Eventually I would like to be a clinical forensic psychologist and work in the prison system attempting to lower rates of reoffending and providing counseling that people in the legal system really need. I have always known that psychology was going to be the major that I pursued and have really enjoyed my time studying it here at Saint Michael's.

I transferred to Saint Michael’s as a junior. I have enjoyed all my psychology courses, especially Personality Theories, Psychology of Health and Illness, Adolescent Development, and Practicum. I am currently applying to master's programs in school counseling and plan to begin graduate studies this fall.

I majored in psychology because of my passion for people. With a minor in sociology, this has helped to expand the scope of my understanding of the human condition. What does it mean to be intimately human in an increasingly globalizing world, where “culture clash” results in much more than just economic crisis? My focus has always been toward spirituality and how that can infuse with or contrast with culture. I hope to be able to continue to graduate level studies, but am content with paying off my student loans in the meantime while getting my feet wet in the large world of psychology. What this means, I’m not even sure as of yet, but I do hope to apply myself to the field of human services by way of either mental health or youth guidance programs.
