I graduated from Saint Michael's with a double major in environmental science and biology. My Saint Michael's education has served me well! There were many professors who challenged me and made me learn how to problem solve, think independently and communicate effectively. These professors included Dr. Van Houten (chemistry), Dr. Bean (biology), Dr. Bolduc (sociology) and Dr. Zeno (philosophy). This liberal arts education, combined with a strong scientific background has enabled me to compete successfully in the business world.

Upon graduating from Saint Mike's I married my wife, Michele Wood '87, and started my career as an environmental scientist at a regionally located engineering consulting firm. We have three great children Jon (17), Jaycie (16) and Jared (14). My children are very active in sports including ice hockey, field hockey, and lacrosse. In 1995 I started Vertex Engineering Services, Inc., with two business partners and served as its president. This business provides environmental consulting, construction management, and technical support to insurance companies.

In 2001, we sold the business and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Tetra Tech. For various reasons the original partners purchased Vertex Engineering back from Tetra Tech in 2004 and formed the following subdivisions: Vertex Environmental Services, Inc., Vertex Construction Services, Inc., Vertex Environmental Insurance Services, Inc., Vertex Government Services, Inc., Vertex Air Quality Services, Inc., and Vertex Ingenieros Consultores (our Mexican Company). We provide all of our services nationally and internationally and I continue to serve as managing partner of the organization.

I was also fortunate to start a company called Consolidated Packaging Company (CPC) with my family in 2005. CPC is a true family company owned by myself and my two brothers in-law, Tim Wood and Ed Wojciechowski. Tim graduated from Saint Mike's in 1998 and Ed's wife, Keryn Wood Wojciechowski, graduated from Saint Mike's in 1992. This company provides contract packaging services, distribution services and industrial supplies to major corporations.
