Welcome
to this inaugural edition of Saint Michael's Biology Department e-newsletter,
Biology Matters! We hope you enjoy reading about our latest
ventures; this is an exciting time for our students, faculty and
alumni. Please follow the links below to learn about the
faculty-student research projects that took place this past summer,
our latest offering of the Tropical Ecology course in Costa Rica,
our new General Biology lab program focusing on conservation of the
threatened sandplain forest, and a major National Science Foundation
grant awarded to one of our faculty, Professor Mark Lubkowitz. Our
e-newsletter will be sent out twice per year, fall and spring, and
in each edition, we will profile a biology major (see the Student
Spotlight of Jeff White at right) and/or an alumnus/a of the biology
department. We would love to hear from alumni with updates on
careers and activities. Sincerely,
Valerie Banschbach

"I've had
the fortune to see a research project through, from applying for funding
to presenting and hopefully becoming published." |
