Digital Resources added in FY08:
The Library’s collection of electronic journals and
full-text databases expanded in FY08 to provide over 37,000 journal titles (up 12%) through more than 100 databases
and indexes. New database offerings and enhancements for the 2007-2008 academic
year included:
ARTstor
BioOne.1.

Credo Reference
GenderWatch
International Medieval Bibliography

Print Periodicals Review.
Based on duplication in electronic journals collection and on print
format use statistics, some 100 paper journal subscriptions were canceled after
faculty review. As well, some 55 paper
journal subscriptions were converted to electronic. A print periodicals use study was launched at
the start of FY08, and will be completed by August 2008.
Added new subscriptions for journal titles comprising
the top tier of most requested articles in EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier.
Collection Management – Weeding project.
Developed and implemented a project to weed targeted areas of the
circulating book collection based on use statistics, bibliographies of core
resources for college libraries, and faculty review. LC classification areas Z and
JX complete.
Retrospective collection building targeted high use subject areas
of the book collection, based on resources listed in Resources for College
Libraries, a bibliography of core resources for college libraries.
Choice
Review Cards routed to faculty to facilitate book selection.
Link
Resolver and A-Z List
Implemented
360 Link (Check for Full Text). SMC users search a database: when full text of an article is not native to
the database, users can click on “Check
for Full Text” to cross-search all of the library’s databases to find that
article.
Gifts
Collection Services received and inventoried
approximately 5700 book and A/V donations.
Completed
processing Golodetz gift (received July 2007).
The Golodetz library, donated by Virginia and
Arnold Golodetz of Burlington, brought some 4,500 children’s books, including
2,960 hard-back books and 1,400 paperbacks, valued at $42,000 to the Durick
Library. Juvenile literature is one of
the highest circulating book genres in the Library.
IV. Book sale
This year’s annual book sale (comprised of
discarded Library materials and donations) was held April 17-20 in Alliot and
staffed by M.O.V.E. Proceeds amounted to
$2000 and were dedicated to M.O.V.E. trip to Kolkata.
V. Additional Staff Activities:
