As the old St Michael's Playhouse burns, college President Bernard Boutin (center) waits for water to be turned on from a hydrant. The truck's supply was exhausted in a few minutes. Boutin helped fight the blaze.

Ready for another run in the new St. Michael's College ambulance are Gary Breton of West Springfield, MA (left), Dean Donald Sutton (center) and Lt. Robert Devlin of Livingston, NJ. The ambulance replaces a 1966 model which was demolished near Fanny Allen Hospital in July while responding to an accident call in Essex Junction. (Free Press Photo by Michael Donoghue)
