Saint Michael's College Women's Tennis
Head Coach Greg Cluff

Greg Cluff completed his second season as Saint Michael’s College women’s tennis head coach in 2004-05. His two-year record of 20-8 is the best winning percentage of any of the 10 coaches in the program's 25-year history.

In 2005, Cluff led the Purple Knights to an 11-4 record, the program's eighth straight winning season and tied for the third-most victories in program history. Saint Michael's advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals before falling to eventual champion Bryant. For his efforts, Cluff was named the Saint Michael's 2004-05 Coach of the Year on May 5.

In 2004, his first season, Cluff guided the Purple Knights to a 9-4 record, the most victories in program history by a first-year head coach.

Cluff spent the previous three seasons (2000-02) as the team’s assistant coach, helping the squad compile a 36-9 record during that span, including an undefeated regular season in 2001.

Cluff has extensive coaching experience in the greater Burlington area. He has spent 27 years (1969-81, 1990-present) as the boy’s tennis coach at Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, where he has served as a social studies teacher for 36 years. Cluff has led the team to four state championships (1977-78, 1999-2000) and eight finals appearances under his tutelage, including six consecutive finals berths from 1997-2002.

In addition to his high school and college coaching experience, Cluff has also taught tennis for many summers. Since 2002, he has been a tutor for the Town of Shelburne Recreation Tennis Program, and from 1991-95 worked at the Burlington Tennis Club.
