PURPLE KNIGHT WOMEN WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT, BEST BENTLEY, 7-2 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                      FOR MORE INFORMATION April 1, 2004                                                                              Contact: Seth Cole                                                                                                 Phone: (802) 654-2537 COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College swept all three doubles matches and handed Bentley College its first Northeast-10 Conference loss of the season on Thursday, downing the Falcons, 7-2, in women’s tennis action at the Tarrant Recreation Center. Saint Michael’s improves to 6-1 overall and in the NE-10, while Bentley falls to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Purple Knights were led by junior Shannon Bergin (Milford, Conn./Lauralton Hall), who lost just one game in a straight-set victory in No. 1 singles, and partnered with freshman Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./Ponaganset) for an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) also posted a pair of victories, including a win at No. 4 singles that went to a 10-point tie-break. Freshman Cara Bednar (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) also won twice for Saint Michael’s, which hasn’t lost since March 7.
