SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Monique Salmon (Windsor, Conn.) posted a singles victory for the American International College women’s tennis team at No. 3 but the Yellow Jackets dropped an 8-1 decision to visiting Saint Michael’s College Saturday afternoon. AIC is now 0-2 on the year while the Purple Knights improve to 4-1.

Salmon posted a 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 over SMC’s Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional). The Yellow Jackets were swept in the remainder of their singles matches as well as all three doubles matches, as junior Shannon Bergin (Milford, Conn./Lauralton Hall) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 singles win and an 8-0 doubles victory.

AIC returns to action Sunday, March 28, when it hosts Saint Anselm at 1:00 p.m. Saint Michael's visits Assumption College on Sunday at 1 p.m. and Franklin Pierce College on Wednesday before hosting Bentley College at the Tarrant Recreation Center on Thursday at 3 p.m.
