PURPLE KNIGHTS FALL TO MILLERSVILLE, 15-6 SMC drops to 0-2, continues road trip in Bermuda FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                      FOR MORE INFORMATION March 14, 2004                                                                          Contact: Seth Cole Courtesy of Millersville Sports Information                                     Phone: (802) 654-2537 MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Senior Andrea Deery (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) scored four goals and freshman Joann Caminiti (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) recorded a hat trick in her collegiate debut as Millersville College defeated Saint Michael's College, 15-6, in women's lacrosse Sunday at chilly Pucillo Field. Deery scored goals 19 seconds apart to give Millersville (1-0) a 6-2 lead before St. Michael's (0-2) closed the deficit to 6-4 late in the first half on goals by sophomore Noreen Russo (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and junior Kate Hallisey (West Roxbury, Mass./Brookline). The Marauders broke the game open when they scored eight goals in a 19-minute span in the second half. Senior center Mary Rafalowski (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and Caminiti each scored twice after intermission to begin Millersville's decisive flurry. Millersville outshot St. Michael's, 41-17, and had edges in draw controls (10-7) and ground balls (7-3). Freshman Mia Davis (Medford Lakes, N.J./Shawnee) recorded five saves and earned the victory in her Marauder debut. Hallisey led St. Michael's with two goals and two assists. Junior goalkeeper Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt./Springfield) made 11 stops in the loss. Millersville opens PSAC action Wednesday at 4 p.m. versus visiting East Stroudsburg while the Purple Knights travel to Bermuda for 3 p.m. games against Connecticut College on Wednesday and UMass Dartmouth on Thursday.
