CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Junior Meg Lyons (Boxborough, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) and freshman Francoise Villedrouin (Paris, Maine/Hebron Academy) each notched two goals and an assist as Saint Michael's College picked up its first women's ice hockey victory of the season, 7-2, versus Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday.

Junior Kate Talbot (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) added a goal and three assists, while junior Holly Brandl (Meridan, Conn./Connecticut Clippers) and freshman Katie Grable (Vista, Calif./Anaheim Lady Ducks) recorded a goal and an assist apiece as the Purple Knights snapped a 12-game losing skid. Junior Marcy Ring (No. Attleboro, Mass./Saint George's School) stopped 18 shots, including 12 in the second period, for Saint Michael's (1-15-1, 1-10-0 ECAC East).

For the Engineers, sophomore Becky Romatowski (Woodbury, Minn.) scored both goals, while junior Regina Sullivan (Shoreline, Wash.) recorded 67 saves for MIT (1-8-0, 0-8-0 ECAC East).

Saint Michael's took a 2-0 lead after one period of play, courtesy of a pair of even-strength goals. Talbot opened the scoring 11:34 into the contest, and five minutes later, Villedrouin notched her first collegiate goal.

MIT rallied to even the contest at two early in the second stanza. The score remained tied for nearly seven minutes, until Grable lit the lamp for what proved to be the game-winner. Lyons doubled the Purple Knights' lead three minutes later with the first of three Saint Michael's power play goals.

The visitors sealed the victory with a trio of third period scores. Talbot assisted on the first two, by Brandl and Villedrouin, and Lyons completed the scoring with her team-leading eight goal of the season.

Saint Michael's and MIT complete their weekend series on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Purple Knights visit University of Massachusetts Boston next weekend before hosting New England College in their final two home games of the season Feb. 14-15 at Cairns Arena in South Burlington.
