SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore Brigid Hegarty (No. Andover, Mass./Central Catholic) scored 14 of her game-high 21 points in the opening half to lead Saint Michael’s to an 83-40 win over Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Grant Court. The Purple Knights clinched a playoff spot in improving to 10-14 overall and 6-14 in league action, while Le Moyne dropped its 15th consecutive game.

Hegarty drilled five 3-pointers to pace four Purple Knights in double figures. Senior Erica Kensey (Bow, N.H./Bow) tallied 16, freshman Jevy Rayner (Westminster, Vt./Bellows Falls Union) 14 and junior Julia Boynton (Concord, N.H./Concord) added 12 points. Kensey grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. The Purple Knights won the battle of the boards 51-35.

Saint Michael’s jumped out to a 44-18 lead at the half and never looked back. The 26-point edge was their biggest lead of the opening half and the 43-point bulge at the end was the Purple Knights’ biggest lead of the game.

Freshman Lindsay Carr (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) paced Le Moyne with nine points. The Dolphins shot a season-low 25% (15-for-60) from the field. Le Moyne has lost 22 games for the first time in women’s basketball program history.

The Dolphins were mathematically eliminated from the Northeast-10 Conference tournament for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. Le Moyne closes out the season on February 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Saint Michael's hosts its final game of the season on Saturday, as the Purple Knights take on Saint Anselm College at 1:30 p.m. at the Ross Sports Center.
