In the first game, freshman Casey Brooks (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) gave the Purple Knights a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-run double. The Setters, however, scored four runs (three unearned) in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Senior Sara Pope (W. Springfield, Mass./W. Springfield) singled and scored twice for Saint Michael's, while classmate Katherine Healey (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) singled and scored.
In the nightcap, freshman Meggan Roberge (Sheldon Springs, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union) was the hard-luck loser, allowing just two singles and one walk while striking out five. The second inning was again the different, as Pace scored all its runs in the bottom of the frame. Junior Noelle Gill (Deep River, Conn./Mercy) doubled to lead a six-hit attack for Saint Michael's (6-6, 0-2 NE-10).
The Purple Knights return to action on Saturday, April 3, as the Purple Knights play their first two home games of the season versus league-rival Saint Anselm College beginning at 12 p.m.
