COLCHESTER, Vt. – Top-ranked Le Moyne College scored the first nine goals and maintained its perfect record by defeating Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael’s College, 13-3, in Senior Day men’s lacrosse action on Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field.

Sophomore Ryan Lewis (Minoa, N.Y.) led the way with six goals and one assist as 11 Dolphins tallied a point. Senior Dan Holdridge (Syracuse, N.Y.) added two goals, while sophomore Collin Knowles (Tully, N.Y.) chipped in with one goal and two helpers. Sophomores Jared Corcoran (Concord, N.H.) and Ryan Fennell (So. Salem, N.Y.) each stopped two shots for Le Moyne (12-0, 10-0 NE-10), which will host next weekend’s conference tournament as the top seed.

For the Purple Knights, junior Nick Calnen (W. Hartford, Conn./Conard) netted a pair of unassisted goals, while sophomore Brady Boyle (So. Dennis, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) scored off of an assist from junior Mike Curley (W. Hartford, Conn./Conard). Junior Brian Hingston (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) and freshman Robert McCarthy (Milton, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) combined for 11 saves for Saint Michael’s (4-9, 3-6), which honored seniors Barrett Hyde (No. Andover, Mass./North Andover), Vladimir Kraev (Niskayuna, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and Doug Lawton (Marblehead, Mass./St. John’s Prep) before the game.

The visitors seized control with three goals in the opening 3:42, and Lewis increased the lead to 5-0 with a pair of goals five seconds apart late in the first period. Le Moyne parlayed a 23-6 advantage in shots to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.

The Dolphins increased their lead to 9-0 before Calnen notched his first goal of the game with 5:37 remaining in the third quarter. Calnen cut the deficit to 11-2 2:18 into the fourth quarter, and Boyle’s goal seven minutes later again pulled the Purple Knights within nine.

Saint Michael’s plays its final contest of the regular season on Sunday at Merrimack College at 12 p.m. A win versus the Warriors gives the Purple Knights the sixth and final seed in the conference playoffs.
