PURPLE KNIGHT MEN FALL TO 10TH-RANKED BENTLEY, 11-3

Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Tenth-ranked Bentley College scored the first seven goals of the game and cruised to an 11-3 victory versus Saint Michael’s College in Northeast-10 Conference men’s lacrosse action on Thursday at Doc Jacobs Field.
Junior Nick Slottje (Ithaca, N.Y.) paced the Falcons with four goals and an assist, while sophomore Reid Morin (Portland, Maine) scored three times. Junior Joshua Kurland (Longmeadow, Mass.) added four assists, while classmate Andrew Hartig (Wyckoff, N.J.) stopped five shots for Bentley (7-2, 5-1 NE-10).
For the Purple Knights, sophomore Brady Boyle (So. Dennis, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) tallied a pair of goals, while junior Nick Calnen (W. Hartford, Conn./Conard) chipped in a goal and an assist. Junior Brian Hingston (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) recorded nine saves as Saint Michael’s (2-6, 2-4) lost its second straight contest.
Bentley seized control in the first period, scoring five times while limiting the Purple Knights to just one shot on goal. The Falcons increased their lead to 7-0 early in the second quarter on Morin’s third goal and Slottje’s second tally, before Saint Michael’s trimmed its deficit to 7-2 at halftime.
The hosts could pull no closer in the second half despite four Bentley penalties, including a three-minute infraction to start the fourth quarter.
Saint Michael’s returns to action on Saturday at league-rival Assumption College before hosting in-state foe Norwich University on April 22 at 3:30 p.m.
