BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Justin Quenneville (Montreal, Quebec/Stanstead College) tallied his 50th career goal and assisted on the game-winner as Saint Michael’s College defeated the University of Massachusetts Boston, 4-1, in ECAC East men’s ice hockey action on Friday at the Clark Athletic Center.

Quenneville’s goal, at 9:53 of the second period, gave the Purple Knights a 3-1 lead. He becomes just the sixth player in program history to record 50 career goals and 50 career assists.

Freshman Derek Jackson (Clinton, N.Y./Gunnery School) stopped 26 shots in net for his first collegiate victory. Senior Mike Duffy (Malone, N.Y./Nepean Raiders), junior Matt Anctil (Wolfeboro, N.H./Exeter Snow Devils) and freshman Jared Silver (Montreal, Quebec/Tabor Academy) added goals for Saint Michael’s (4-8-0, 2-6-0 ECAC East), which snapped a seven-game losing streak.

Senior Stephen Chin (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) tallied the lone goal for the Beacons, while freshman Sean Bertoni (Frankin, Mass.) turned aside 37 shots for UMass Boston (2-11-0, 0-8-0), which lost its fifth straight contest.

Saint Michael’s returns to action tomorrow, as the Purple Knights visit 15th-ranked Babson College at 4 p.m.
