Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Colby-Sawyer College won the first two doubles matches and hung on for a 5-4 victory versus Saint Michael’s College in men’s tennis action on Tuesday at the Tarrant Recreation Center.
Saint Michael’s drops to 0-4 on the season, while the Chargers open their season 1-0.
For the Purple Knights, sophomore Thomas Wu (Litchfield, Conn./Litchfield) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles, and partnered with freshman Will Benoit (New London, Conn./Fitch Senior) for an 8-4 victory in third doubles. Claiming three-set wins in singles action were junior Josh Holt (Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock) and freshman Spencer Williams (East Hampton, Conn./Northwood School).
Saint Michael’s is off until March 23, as the Purple Knights play their first road match of the season at Merrimack College. Friday’s contest at Southern New Hampshire University has been rescheduled for March 25, two days before the Purple Knights’ next home contest, a 1 p.m. tilt versus American International College.
