NEW LONDON, Conn. - Saint Michael's College failed to hold a 4-2, second period lead in dropping a 6-4 decision to Connecticut College in men's hockey action on Friday.

Despite being outshot in the first period 14-6, the Purple Knights took a 2-1 lead in the first 20 minutes on goals by sophomore Nick Dancey (Anaheim, Calif.) and junior Matt Anctil (Wolfeboro, N.H.). The Camels tied the contest early in the second stanza, but a pair of power play markers midway through the period by senior Brent Hill (Saint Albert, Alberta) and sophomore David Mullins (Montreal, Quebec) gave Saint Michael's its biggest lead at 4-2.

Connecticut College rallied late in the second period, scoring twice to tie the contest at four-all. The Camels took the lead for good midway through the third period, as Andrew Clavette's (Winchester, Mass.) first goal of the season proved to be the game-winner.

An empty-net tally with 35 seconds to go sealed the victory for the Camels.

Junior Andy Joy (Oak Park, Ill.) stopped 37 of 42 shots for Saint Michael's, which evened its record at 1-1-0 overall, 0-1-0 in ECAC East play. The contest marked the head coaching debut for Connecticut College's Jim Ward.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, as the Purple Knights visit Tufts University at 4 p.m.
