CHASE PLACES THIRD AS VERMONT TAKES J.W. GOSS CUP

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Senior Chris Chase (Aurora, N.Y./Southern Cayuga Central) fired an 81 to place third as the Saint Michael's College golf team finished in third at the 48th annual J.W. Goss Cup, held at the Vermont National Country Club, on Thursday.

The University of Vermont won its third consecutive Goss Cup, the state championship in collegiate golf, with a total of 411. Middlebury College placed second with a 419, while the Purple Knights shot 434.

Freshman Cameron Velott (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) finished second for Saint Michael's, and tied for sixth overall, with an 84.

The golf team returns to action for the First Annual Penmen Fall Classic, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, Oct. 4-5 in Canterbury, N.H.
