NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Despite senior Jilby Danis' (Burlington, Vt./Rice Memorial) team-leading eighth goal of the season, No. 9 Saint Michael's saw its three-game conference winning streak come to an end in losing to Southern Connecticut State University, 3-1, on Saturday at Jess Dow Field.

Sophomore Cathy Cardini (Willington, Conn.) led the Owls with two goals. Her first tally at 10:25 gave SCSU a 1-0 lead. Junior Cori Krajewski (Carmel, N.Y.) scored what proved to be the game-winner on a penalty stroke at the 45:09 mark, doubling the Owls' lead.

Less than a minute later, the Purple Knights cut the deficit in half on Danis' goal, assisted by sophomore defender Johanne Skelley (Wolfboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional). However, Cardini tallied an insurance goal at 67:26 to complete the scoring.

Junior Tamsen Hunter (Center Tuftonboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional) stopped six shots for Saint Michael's, while Sarah Dube (Northampton, Mass.) had five saves for SCSU, now 6-2 overall, 5-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action.

Saint Michael's (4-4 overall, 3-3 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday against Franklin Pierce College at 4 p.m. at Doc Jacobs Field.
