In the first contest, Frimodig allowed just seven hits and didn't walk a batter as the Purple Knights snapped a five-game losing streak and bested the Thoroughbreds, 8-4. Saint Michael's broke open the contest with a five-run seventh inning, as freshman Robby Barush's (Essex, Vt./Essex) two-run single in the frame was the decisive blow. Junior Eric Libardoni (Brattleboro, Vt./Brattleboro Union) gave the Purple Knights the lead for good with a two-run single in the second inning.
For Skidmore, Matt Ferrari belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning, while Mike Godlewski added a two-run first-inning single.
In the nightcap, Max Ruby fired a complete game five hitter to lead Skidmore to a 7-1 win. Freshman Matt Pierce (Essex, Vt./Essex) led Saint Michael's (4-7) with a double, single and the lone run, while sophomore Kevin Foley (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) added a pair of singles.
The Purple Knights visit Vassar College on Sunday in a 12 p.m. doubleheader before playing their first home game of the season on Thursday versus Norwich University at 3 p.m. at Doc Jacobs Field.
