In Game 1, freshman Mike Frimodig (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) took a shutout into the seventh inning in his collegiate debut against Endicott. The southpaw lost his shutout bid with two down in the seventh, but he finished his complete-game effort by striking out two, walking three and allowing seven hits. The game had been postponed from Tuesday due to inclement weather.
Sophomore Kevin Harutunian (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) scored both of Saint Michael's runs during the game. He gave his team a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the first inning before doubling in the fourth and scoring on sophomore Kevin Koscso's (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) single for a 2-0 advantage.
In the second game, Dana (Nebraska) scored six times in the fifth inning to break the game open and snap the Purple Knights' three-game winning streak. Saint Michael's plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to produce the final margin. Junior Jay Colon (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) singled twice and scored twice while freshman Ryan Dulude (Berkshire, Vt./Enosburg Falls) picked up two hits, including a double.
On Thursday, Saint Michael's will play Purdue University - North Central at 12:30 p.m. before taking on MidAmerica Nazarene (Kansas) University at 3 p.m. They will play a single game on each Friday and Saturday before returning to Vermont.
