COLCHESTER, Vt. – Senior pitcher Ricky Dailey (Manchester, Vt./Burr & Burton Academy) recorded victories in both games as Saint Michael’s College edged Lyndon State College, 5-4 and 6-5, in baseball action on Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field.

In the opener, freshman Matt Pierce’s (Essex, Vt./Essex) single in the bottom of the seventh plated sophomore Kevin Koscso (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) with the winning run. Koscso singled twice and scored twice for the Purple Knights, while sophomore Kevin Foley (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) doubled, singled and knocked in two runs. Dailey pitched the final 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Dan O’Connor (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy), allowing just one walk.

For the Hornets, senior Jeremy Lawrence’s (Northfield, Vt.) two-run single in a four-run sixth inning helped the visitors rally from a 4-0 deficit. Sophomore Adrian Guyer (Lyndon, Vt.) doubled and scored for Lyndon State, who was playing its first contest of the season.

In the nightcap, Saint Michael’s scored six runs on just four hits, with sophomore Kevin Harutunian’s (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) two-run fourth-inning single the big blow. Harutunian singled twice in the win, while junior Eric Libardoni (Brattleboro, Vt./Brattleboro Union) added an RBI single and two runs scored. Junior Jesus Colon (Brooklyn, Mass./LaSalle Academy) added a two-run single for Saint Michael’s (6-9-1), which snapped a four-game winless skid, while Dailey pitched 1 2/3 innings of middle relief for his second win of the day. Freshman Ian Guertin (Sutton, Mass./Sutton) notched his first career save with two innings of hitless relief.

Lyndon State (0-2) was led by senior Greg Rose (Derby Line, Vt.), who singled, scored twice, swiped two bases, and knocked in a run. Junior Leon Feerick (Orleans, Vt.) added an RBI single for the Hornets.

Saint Michael’s returns to action on Tuesday, as the Purple Knights complete a four-game homestand with a nine-inning affair versus Middlebury College at 3 p.m.
