COLCHESTER, VT – Freshman Carolyn Cherry (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored five goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Saint Lawrence University women’s lacrosse team to a 11-10 victory over Saint Michael’s College in a non-conference match-up today at Doc Jacobs Field.

With the win, the Saints improve to 5-1, while the Purple Knights fall to 2-3 overall.

The scoring went back and forth in the early going as SMC’s Alexa Huckins-Noss (Calais, Vt.) scored three consecutive goals for her first career hat trick. Former U-32 High School teammate Erin Redmond (E. Montpelier, Vt.) also notched a goal for Saint Michael’s as the home team went into intermission down 8-6.

The Purple Knights defense worked hard to hold the Saints to just three goals in the final 30 minutes, as they attempted to fight back on the offensive side, but came up just short. Junior Amanda Lohin (Wellesley, Mass.) netted a hat trick for Saint Michael’s.

Freshman goalie Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt.) made 12 saves for SMC, while Desiree McKoan (Waccabuc, N.Y.) had nine saves for the Saints.

Saint Michael’s returns to action tomorrow when they travel to cross-town rival University of Vermont for a 4 p.m. contest.
