COLCHESTER, VT – Freshman Liza Gorman (Cabin John, Md.) scored a game-high six goals as Skidmore College snapped the Saint Michael’s College women’s lacrosse team’s four-game winning streak with a 19-6 victory at Doc Jacobs field today.

The Thoroughbreds went up 5-1 in the first 10 minutes of the game as senior Kristin Dutcher (Wellesley, Mass.) scored two goals three minutes apart. Freshman Amaris Pawlowski (Morris, Conn.) put the Purple Knights on the board at six minutes into the game on a feed by Lauren Piekarski (E. Sandwich, Mass.) who scored a goal of her own six minutes later.

Skidmore took a 13-3 lead into intermission as Gorman and Manuella DeBarros (New York, N.Y.) each scored a pair of goals in the last five minutes of the first half.

SMC’s defense improved in the second half, but Skidmore’s lead was just too great to overcome, as Gorman pumped in two goals and Taryn Howard (Littleton, N.H.) scored her third of the game as the Thoroughbreds notched six goals in the final 30 minutes of play.

Saint Michael’s Amanda Lohin (Wellesley, Mass.), this week’s Northeast-10 Player of the Week, had a hand in all but one of the home team’s goals today, scoring two and dishing out three assists.

Jess Anderson (Springfield, Mass.) made 15 saves in the loss for SMC, while Sarah Berheide (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) stopped 11 shots for Skidmore.

Saint Michael’s falls to 5-3 with today’s loss, while Skidmore improves to 6-2.

The Purple Knights return to action on Saturday in a highly anticipated match-up at Stonehill College - the only other undefeated in the NE-10 – starting at 1 p.m.
