Colchester, Vt. - Sophomore Kate Hallisey (West Roxbury, Mass.) netted a game-high five goals to lead the Saint Michael’s women’s lacrosse team to a 16-3 win over Southern Connecticut State Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field.

Seven different players scored for the Purple Knights, as they remain unbeaten in the Northeast-10 Conference at 4-0 and 4-2 overall while Southern Connecticut drops to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the NE-10.  

The Owls jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Cathy Cardini fired one past Purple Knights goaltender Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt.) at 29:06, but it was all Saint Michael’s from there.

The Purple Knights took a commanding 11-2 lead going into the second period.  Saint Michael’s added three more goals in the second half before Southern Connecticut’s Emma Rufleth (Clinton, Conn.) netted the final goal for the Owls at 10:15.

Senior Amanda Lohin (Wellesley, Mass.) tallied four goals and two assists on the day.

Sophomore Lauren Piekarski (E. Sandwich, Mass.)  had two goals and two assists for the Purple Knights while senior defender Erin Redmond (E. Montpelier, Vt.) chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Anderson made three saves in the first half while freshman Kristen Baslik (Sandwich, Mass.) recorded four saves in the second half for Saint Michael’s.  Southern Connecticut goaltender Sarah Dube (Northampton, Mass.) had 20 saves in net for the Owls.

The Purple Knights return to action on Sunday against American International College at 1:00 p.m. on Doc Jacobs Field.
