WOMEN'S LACROSSE CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN
Purple Knights In Three-Way Tie For Second PlaceFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION
April 28, 2003 Contact: Angela AjaNorth Andover, MA - Senior Amanda Lohin (Wellesley, MA) scored a game-high four goals as Saint Michael's College (7-5, 7-2) defeated Merrimack College (4-10, 2-7) 7-5 in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action. Kate Hallisey (West Roxbury, MA) netted two goals including the Purple Knight's final goal to put the game away with 7:57 to play in the game. Kate Condon (Columbia, MD) led the way for the Warriors scoring three goals.
The Warriors got on the board first less than five minutes into the first half when Condon found the back of the net unassisted. Freshman Amaris Pawlowksi (Morris, CT) tied the game up at one with her goal with 20:43 to play in the first half. When Condon scored with just over four minutes until halftime Merrimack had built its largest lead at 3-1. But the Purple Knights would come back to tie the game when Lohin scored her second of the game with :24 seconds left to play in the half.
For Merrimack's first two goals of the second half, the Purple Knights had an immediate answer. Alison Colarusso (North Andover, MA) netted a goal at 24:11, and Hallisey tied the game back up at 22:50. Condon scored the final goal of the game for the Warriors at 17:15 but Saint Michael's would once again tie the game up just 40 seconds later. Lohin netted what proved to be the winning goal for the Purple Knights with just over nine minutes to go in the game.
Today's game marked the final game of the season for the Warriors and it was the final career home game for Merrimack seniors Stacey Cooper, Elizabeth McCahill and Kerry Rogato. With the win Saint Michael's earns a three-way tie for second place with Bentley and Bryant. The second seed in the upcoming NE-10 Tournament will be determined by a coin flip on Tuesday.
