PURPLE KNIGHTS CRUISE PAST FRANKLIN PIERCE, 20-1

Colchester, Vt. – Senior captain Amanda Lohin (Wellesley, Mass.) netted six goals and five assists to help the Saint Michael’s College women’s lacrosse team cruise past Franklin Pierce College 20-1 on Wednesday at Doc Jacobs Field.

Sophomore Lauren Piekarski (E. Sandwich, Mass.) got the Purple Knights going when she fired one past Ravens goaltender Ashley Simpson (Ridgefield, Conn.) just 40 seconds into the game off a pass from Lohin.  Nine different players picked up goals on the day for Saint Michael’s. Piekarski and classmate Kate Hallisey (West Roxbury, Mass.) each finished the game with four goals.

Franklin Pierce got its lone goal in the first half from freshman Courtney Boardman (Buxton, Maine) at 27:03.  Junior Shalon King (Milford, Mass.) picked up the assist.

Purple Knights goaltender Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt.) made seven saves while Simpson recorded 17 saves for the Ravens.  With the win Saint Michael’s snaps a two-game skid and improves to 6-4 overall and 6-1 in the NE-10 while Franklin Pierce drops to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the NE-10.

The Purple Knights are on the road this weekend for a 1:00 p.m. game at Bryant on Sunday.
