COLCHESTER, VT – Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week Amanda Lohin (Wellesley, Mass.) scored six goals to lift the Saint Michael’s College women’s lacrosse team to a 14-5 victory over league rival Bryant College today at Doc Jacobs Field.

The victory comes one day after the Purple Knights fell to Northeast-10 leader Stonehill College. The home team improves its record to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in the NE-10, while the Bulldogs falls to 6-7 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

Lohin put SMC on the board at five minutes in, while teammate Alexa Huckins-Noss (Calais, Vt.) scored a minute later and Katie Henry (Bayville, N.Y.) followed that with a tally the following minute, for a 3-0 lead at the 23:21 mark. Junior Erin Redmond (E. Montpelier, Vt.) made it 4-0 with 15 minutes to play, before the Bulldogs fought back to score two goals in the next minute as Melissa Talamini (Mendon, Mass.) and Cathy Sbarra (Bethpage, N.Y.) both netted goals to cut the Purple Knights lead to two. That would be as close as the score would get, though, as Lohin took control and scored three consecutive times to make it 8-2 at intermission.

SMC came out strong in the final stanza as Henry and Lohin both scored three apiece. Elizabeth Blaisdell (Gorham, Maine) scored two goals and an assist in the second to go along with her first half assist for four points for Bryant. Dana Paquin (North Smithfield, R.I.) had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs, as did Kate Hallisey (W. Roxbury, Mass.) for SMC.

Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt.) made five saves for Saint Michael’s, while Stephanie Tobey (W. Yarmouth, Mass.) made 11 saves for Bryant.

The Purple Knights travel to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, while Bryant travels to Merrimack the same day.
