COLCHESTER, VT – Senior co-captain Bryan Barletto (Liverpool, N.Y.) picked up a hat trick Tuesday afternoon, leading the Saint Michael's College men’s lacrosse team to a 14-3 win over Northeast-10 rival Saint Anselm College on senior day at Doc Jacobs Field.

Today's contest marks the final regular season home game of the year and the team’s fifth consecutive victory, improving the Purple Knights’ record to 8-3 overall and 6-3 in the NE-10.  For Saint Anselm, the loss drops the Hawks to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Saint Michael’s took the lead just 15 seconds into the game, when sophomore Ryan Lynn (New Canaan, Conn.) scored a goal off a pass from freshman Brandon Kobelt (New York, N.Y.).  The Purple Knights buried three more goals in the first quarter while holding the Hawks scoreless, taking a 4-0 lead into the second.

After sophomore Bobby Dippell (San Jose, Calif.) gave Saint Michael’s a five-goal lead early in the second, Saint Anselm picked up its first goal when sophomore Kevin Allwarden (Amherst, N.H.) scored unassisted with 7:56 remaining in the half.  Saint Michael’s would break away in the third though, outscoring the Hawks 5-1 in the quarter and taking a controlling 11-2 lead.

Leading the way for Saint Michael’s behind Barletto’s three goals was Kobelt, who picked up two goals and two assists.  The Purple Knights’ Lynn, Kevin Duffy (Yonkers, N.Y.), Nick Calnen (W. Hartford, Conn.) and Sean Dacey (Pensfield, N.Y.) also added two goals apiece.  For Saint Anselm, Allwarden was the top scorer with two goals.

Saint Michael’s looks to continue its winning ways on Thursday when the team travels to in-state rival Norwich University for a game at 3:00 p.m.
