COLCHESTER, VT - Senior captain Bryan Barletto (Liverpool, N.Y.) scored four goals and picked up two assists to leading the Saint Michael’s College men’s lacrosse team to a 20-3 victory over Northeast-10 rival Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 men’s lacrosse action.

The contest, which was regularly scheduled as a road match up for the SMC, was changed to a home game due to snowy field conditions at Franklin Pierce. With the win, Saint Michael’s improves to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the NE-10. The loss puts the Ravens at 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

The Purple Knights jumped out to an early lead when senior Sean Dacey (Pensfield, N.Y.) buried an unassisted goal just 65 seconds into the game. Off the ensuing face off, sophomore Ryan Lynn (New Canaan, Conn.) made it 2-0 just nine seconds later off a pass from Barletto. Saint Michael’s would also get goals Barletto and freshman Eric Libby (Cohasset, Mass.) over the next four minutes of play, for an early 4-0 lead.

Four goals was all Saint Michael’s would need to preserve, as the Purple Knight defense and goaltending allowed just three Franklin Pierce goals. Senior goalie Brendan Greely (Amherst, Mass.) got the nod between the pipes for Saint Michael’s, recording 12 saves in the win.

The Purple Knights surged offensively today, with seven players scoring two or more goals. Along with Barletto’s four, Dacey and Lynn also added hat tricks. Senior captain Kevin Duffy (Yonkers, N.Y.), and freshmen Libby, Brandon Kobelt (New York, N.Y.) and Tristan Bandoni (Newport, R.I.) each added two goals in the game. Andrew McEntee (Manhassett, N.Y.) was the top point scorer for the Ravens today, notching a goal and an assist.

Saint Michael’s returns to action on Saturday when they host NE-10 rival Southern New Hampshire on Doc Jacobs Field at 1:30 p.m.
