COLCHESTER, VT – The Le Moyne College men’s lacrosse team showed Saint Michael's why it is the fifth best team in the nation, defeating the Purple Knights 15-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action at Doc Jacobs Field today.

The Dolphins (4-2. 3-0 NE-10), ranked No. 5 in the nation in the latest USILA/STX Division II poll, attacked early, scoring five goals in the first quarter of play.  Senior Marty Moore (Minoa, N.Y.) started things off for Le Moyne, scoring the first of his three goals in the game at the 12:09 mark.  Sophomore Corey Sullivan (LaFayette, N.Y.) also played a large role early for the Dolphins, scoring two goals in the first, while finishing with four goals and one assist.

The Purple Knights (1-2, 1-1 NE-10) had their strongest showing in the second quarter, holding Le Moyne to just one goal, but unable to bury any of their own.  Senior goalie Jim Crozier (Avon, Conn.) helped keep Saint Michael’s alive, making eight saves in the second, and keeping the Dolphins within striking distance, 6-0, at the half.  Crozier finished the day with 24 saves.

Le Moyne was too much to handle though, netting nine goals in the second half.  The Purple Knights had many more scoring opportunities in the second half of play, but they could only sneak one in the net.  With just 35 seconds to play senior Tim Birmingham (Brownsville, Vt.) put one past Le Moyne backup goalie Brannan Karg (Fairport, N.Y.) off a pass from senior Greg Gosier (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.).  Karg, who entered in the fourth quarter, finished with five saves, while starter Tom Kimble (Canandaigua, N.Y.) had 14.

Saint Michael's College returns to action on Saturday, April 6, when it takes on Pace at 1:00 p.m. at Doc Jacobs Field.
