Sophomore Dani Rayner (Westminster, Vt./Bellows Falls Union) tallied 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting for the Purple Knights, while freshman Katie Barthelmes (Contoocook, N.H./Hopkinton) added 13 points. First-year Adrienne Carpenter (Princeton, Mass./Wachusett Regional) chipped in 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds off of the bench as Saint Michael’s (3-5) snapped a five-game losing skid and improved to 3-2 at home this season.

Sophomore Suzanne Albert (Montreal, Quebec) led a balanced Golden Falcons’ attack with 15 points, hitting 5-of-6 3-pointers. Junior Alesha Clayton (Paterson, N.J.) added 13 points, while sophomore Rochelle Forbes (Montreal, Quebec) recorded 10 points and eight rebounds for Felician (2-7), which committed 29 turnovers.

Saint Michael’s trailed just once in the contest, 6-4, just 2:39 into the game. The hosts opened up a comfortable 33-21 lead with 2:21 left in the stanza, but Felician scored seven unanswered points in the final 43 seconds of the half to cut its deficit to 33-28 at intermission.

In the second period, the Purple Knights maintained their lead, but couldn’t put the Golden Falcons away until the final minutes. With 3:58 remaining and a 60-52 Saint Michael’s lead, Hegarty converted a four-point play, sparking a game-ending 15-8 run. Hegarty scored the first 11 Purple Knight points in the run, and the hosts kept their double-digit cushion for the remainder of the contest.

Saint Michael’s returns to action on Sunday in the opening game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at the Ross Sports Center. The Purple Knight women take on Stonehill College at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Saint Michael’s men versus Stonehill at 3:30 p.m.
