SWIMMING'S HAMMER EARNS NORTHEAST-10 WEEKLY AWARD

Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael's College's Stephanie Hammer (Billings, Mont./Billings West) earned Northeast-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Co-Freshmen of the Week honors on Monday, while five other Purple Knights landed spots on the weekly honor roll.
Hammer had an impressive debut in Saturday's season-opener versus the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She had a pair of first-place finishes, as she won the 1,000-yard freestyle by 35 seconds (clocking in at 11:44.12) and the 500-yard freestyle by eight seconds (in a time of 5:45.96).
Two other swimmers earned honor roll recognition for their performances in Saturday's dual-meet. On the men's side, senior Chris Cochran (Forestdale, Mass./Barnstable) won both the 1,000- and 500-yard freestyles, as well as one of the one-meter diving events. For the women, junior Laura Mann (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) came in first in the 50-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley.
In volleyball, two seniors were named to the honor roll following the final week of their collegiate careers. Jessica Mulroy (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) averaged 11.36 assists per game in a 1-2 week, including 44 assists in a season-ending 3-0 win versus Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday. Kaitlyn Rae (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechuag Regional) averaged 4.9 kills per game on the week, including 20 in the victory against the Owls, and finishes her career second in program history in kills.
In cross country, junior Thomas Lichtenberger (Bloomfield, Conn./Northwest Catholic) was recognized following a strong season-ending performance at Sunday's NCAA Northeast Regionals, held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Lichtenberger just missed a spot on the Northeast Region Men's All-Star Team, placing 16th in a time of 32:39.2
