Stonehill will be seeded seventh in the upcoming conference quarterfinals and will face either Bentley, UMass Lowell, LeMoyne or Saint Rose next Friday evening at American International's Butova Gymnasium in Springfield, Mass. at 5:00 p.m., as the second seed in the tournament has yet to be determined.
Junior Kathleen Riley (Melrose, Mass.) added six kills and nine digs in the triumph for the host Chieftains (12-14, 7-7 Northeast-10), who also received a combined 30 set assists from juniors Liane Kilmain (Holliston, Mass.) and Mollie Babcock (Gilford, N.H.), as Kilmain also added 16 digs and freshman Sara Thompson (Millis, Mass.) chipped in with four total blocks. The win gives Stonehill its highest single-season victory total in seven years, as the Chieftains had won just eight overall contests and three Northeast-10 outings over the last two seasons combined entering the 2004 campaign.
