   WOMEN'S HOCKEY PICKED EIGHTH IN ECAC EAST PRESEASON POLL

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team was picked to finish eighth out of 11 teams in the ECAC Women's East Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Thursday.

The Purple Knights earned 40 points to edge Salve Regina University by eight points. Manhattanville College, last year's regular season champion, was the unanimous top pick and earned 110 points.

Saint Michael's, led by sixth-year head coach Chris Donovan and captained by junior Melissa Gagne (Eliot, Maine/Berwick Academy) and seniors Annice Mason (Berlin, Vt./U-32) and Michelle Miaskiewicz (Salem, Mass./North Shore Vipers), opens its season on Friday with a 7 p.m. home contest versus Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Purple Knights set a program record for victories in a season last year.
