SAINT MICHAEL’S DEFEATED BY BENTLEY, 3-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael's College (3-14, 1-11 NE-10) was defeated in straight sets by Northeast-10 powerhouse Bentley College (21-6, 12-0 NE-10) in women’s volleyball on Saturday afternoon at the Ross Sports Center.
The Falcons took game one by a score of 30-14, and the Purple Knights stayed competitive through much of the second game before Bentley closed out a 12-6 run to win 30-18. After pulling within one at 15-14 in game number three, Saint Michael’s eventually fell 30-21 in the clinching match for Bentley, who has yet to lose a conference game this season.
For the Falcons, senior captain Amber Gracey (Saline, Mich./Saline) had ten kills, 14 digs and four blocks in the win, as classmate Katie Markstein (La Jolla, Calif./Scripps Ranch) helped with 18 digs and three service aces. Freshman Becca Rector (Greenwood Village, Colo./Arapahoe) had 13 kills for the visitors on 19 attempts with no errors, and fellow first year player Tori Piskulick (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) helped out with a game high 46 assists and two aces.
For the Purple Knights, Kaitlyn Rae (Willbraham, Mass./Minnechuag Reg.) had eight kills and fellow senior Katie Ouellette (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) contributed ten digs as well as two solo and two assisted blocks. Co-captain Jessica Mulroy (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) led Saint Michael's with 23 assists and also added seven digs.
The Purple Knights will return to action this Tuesday evening as they travel to Middlebury for a 6:30 p.m. contest. The Ravens play again on Sunday when they host the University of Bridgeport at 1 p.m.Bentley 3, Saint Michael’s 0
