The host Chieftains (13-8) advance to the Northeast-10 semi-final round for the second time in school history on Saturday to take on top-ranked and top-seeded Bentley (19-1), which swept the season series between the two schools by taking a pair of 2-1 regular season match-ups.
After a scoreless first half of play, Gleason gave Stonehill the only goal it would need in the 47th minute of play with an unassisted tally, her team-leading 17th of the season, and Boulis provided an insurance marker exactly 11 minutes later when she converted a pass from senior Lauren Adams (North Andover, Mass.) for her fifth goal of the season to close out the scoring.
Freshman Dani Ryder (Fiskdale, Mass.) made five saves to record her ninth shutout victory in goal for Stonehill, while senior Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt.) made 10 stops in net for the visiting Purple Knights, who end their season at 8-11 overall. The Chieftains outshot Saint Michael’s by a 16-6 margin for the match.
Stonehill and Bentley play in one Northeast-10 semi-final on Saturday morning in Waltham, Mass. beginning at 11:00 a.m., while second-seeded UMass Lowell and third-seeded Southern Connecticut meet in the other semi-final at 2:00 p.m., as the Owls advanced with a 5-1 quarterfinal round win over sixth-seeded Merrimack on Wednesday afternoon in New Haven, Conn.
