The win marked the team’s second straight, and its first on its home court this season.
The Purple Knights trailed much of the first game before tying it at 26, and rallied to win, 30-28. Game number two remained closer, as SMC, who led through the majority of the game, was able to extinguish a late Cardinal rally and take the game 30-25. In game three, Plattsburgh State opened up their biggest lead of the night at 19-11, but the Purple Knights stormed back to tie the game at 20 apiece. After trading points, the Cardinals went ahead for good 25-24 and closed out the scoring with a 6-0 run, and a final of 30-24. The next game was again very closely matched, as Plattsburgh’s 18-14 advantage would be the largest margin of separation between the two teams before the visitors eventually won 30-28 to force a fifth game. After opening up a 10-3 lead in the deciding game, the two schools matched point for point as Saint Michael’s completed the 15-8 win.
