The win snaps a six-game slide for the Yellow Jackets as they improve to 3-13-0 overall and 3-10-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Purple Knights dropped their second in a row and are now 8-7-2 overall and 5-7-1 in the league.
Burson would net the game’s only goal with 7:47 remaining in the first half when she netted an unassisted tally, her second goal of the season. It marked the first game-winning goal of Burson’s career.
Mead made nine saves as the Yellow Jackets recorded their first shutout in more than two years, since a 1-0 blanking of Teikyo Post on October 21, 2002. It also marked the first career shutout for Mead. Freshman Gillian Goldman (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) made five saves for the Purple Knights, who must defeat Bryant in their regular-season finale on Wednesday at Doc Jacobs Field in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
AIC returns to action Monday when it heads to Teikyo Post for a 3:00 game. The next Yellow Jacket home game is Wednesday when they entertain UMass Lowell in a 3:00 contest.
