SAINT MICHAEL'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATED BY AIC 3-2
Purple Knights fall short of their first victory of the season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Zane Berzina (Talsi, Latvia) totaled 18 kills and 15 digs to lead American International College as it rallied from a 2-0 deficit to post a 3-2 win over Saint Michael’s College in Northeast-10 volleyball action Friday night at Butova Gymnasium.  The win lifts the Yellow Jackets to 3-9 and 3-6 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights are 0-9 and 0-8 in the league.  The game scores were 21-30, 31-33, 30-28, 30-19, 15-10.

         
Berzina also added three aces, two solo and four assisted blocks.  Krystle Neves (North Quincy, Mass.) registered 17 kills, seven digs, two assisted blocks and three aces, while Charisse Trotman (Bristol, Conn.) had 11 digs, eight kills and five assisted blocks.  Jocelyn Lavandier (New Haven, Conn.) had 16 digs.  Alicia Cotton (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) racked up 13 digs and five aces, while Ozge Ozkan (Istanbul, Turkey) racked up 50 assists.

(Wilbraham, Mass.) led Saint Michael’s with 19 kills, 12 digs and four aces.  Leslie Herwig (Kingston, N.Y.) totaled 28 digs and 12 kills, while Katie Ouelette (Hampton, N.H.) and Stephanie Bambury (Reading, Mass.) had nine kills apiece.  Jessica Mulroy (Marcellus, N.Y.) handed out 40 assists and also added 13 digs.

           
Both teams return to action on Saturday, as AIC travels to Pace for a 1:00 match, and the Purple Knights will go to Assumption on to take on the Greyhounds at 12:00 p.m.
