MANCHESTER, N.H. Senior Brittany Porter (Riverton, WY) and freshman Jamie Rood (Southbury, CT) both had 10 kills to lead the Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Saint Michael’s College here tonight in a Northeast-10 Conference match. SNHU has now won three of its last four matches and improved to 7-10 overall and 3-4 in the league. The Purple Knights remained winless on the year at 0-8 overall and 0-7 in the league.

SNHU held a 10-7 lead in game one, before putting together an 11-3 run to take control enroute to a 30-20 win. The Penmen held a 28-21 lead in game two, before the Purple Knights rallied and cut the lead to three points at 29-26. SNHU held on for a 30-26 win. SNHU held a 16-15 lead in the final game, when it took control with six unanswered points. Saint Michael’s came no closer than five points down the stretch, as the Penmen secured the match with a 30-22 win.

Senior Deanna Guenther (Apollo, PA) helped the SNHU cause with nine kills and 17 digs, while junior Colleen Eddy (Dracut, MA) contributed a team-high 21 kills. Freshman Nicky Dumond (Tewksbury, MA) handed out 20 assists, while sophomore Kelly Scanlon (East Providence, RI) added 18 assists.

Senior Katie Ouellette (Hampton, NH) paced the Purple Knights with nine kills. Senior Kaitlyn Rae (Wilbraham, MA) added eight kills and a team-high 16 digs for the visitors, while classmate Jessica Mulroy (Marcellus, NY) contributed 24 assists.

Both teams are idle until next Friday (10/14). SNHU hosts Rivier College in a non-league match, while Saint Michael’s travels to American International College.
