In women's tennis, sophomore Danielle Gagnon (Gorham, Maine/Catherine McAuley) and juniors Cara Bednar (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) and Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./Ponaganset) were recognized. Gagnon had a three-set singles victory and a doubles win in Saint Michael's 6-3 triumph versus Saint Anselm College on Sunday. Bednar also won twice, at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, versus the Hawks, while Burns was 4-0 last week, as she also won twice in the Purple Knights' 5-4 loss to Merrimack College on Saturday.
In cross country, senior Paul Wagner (Woods Hole, Mass./Suffield Academy) and junior Thomas Lichtenberger (Bloomfield, Conn./Northwest Catholic) were honored on the men's side, and freshman Mary Lynn Denholm (Sparks, Md./Okemo Mountain School) was chosen for the women. In men's soccer, senior Patrick Melvin (Belmont, Vt./Black River) earned an honor roll nod. He stopped 14 shots last week, including 11 in a 0-0 tie at eighth-ranked league leader Merrimack College on Saturday. The shutout was Melvin's third of the season.
In women's soccer, freshman Caitlin Cronin (Dalton, Mass./Saint Joseph's Central) was chosen. She tallied a pair of goals, including the game-tying and game-winning scores, in the Purple Knights' 3-1 win versus American International College on Tuesday, kick-starting Saint Michael's 2-0 week.
