Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College (3-2, 2-2 NE-10) won all three double matches and bested Saint Anselm College (0-1, 0-1 NE-10), 6-3, in Northeast-10 Conference tennis action on Sunday on the outdoor courts.
Junior Cara Bednar (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) led the way for the Purple Knights, as she notched a straight-set win in first singles, and partnered with senior Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) for an 8-5 victory in first doubles. Junior Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./Ponaganset) also won twice, as she earned a straight set victory in No. 3 singles and teamed with sophomore Megan Conway (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) for an 8-5 triumph in No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Danielle Gagnon (Gorham, Maine/Catherine McAuley) chipped in with a three-set win in sixth singles, and an 8-6 victory in No. 3 doubles with freshman Molly Harrison (Windham, Maine/Salem).
Saint Michael’s closes out the fall portion of its schedule on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. home match versus Franklin Pierce College. Saint Anselm hosts Bentley on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
