SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Saint Michael’s College used two second half goals to beat Bryant University 3-1 in game played today at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.

The Purple Knights got on the board first when sophomore Megan Lagasse (Newburyport, Mass./Governor Dummer Academy) scored at 20:19 off an assist from classmate Ashley Webb (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) to make the score 1-0.

The Bulldogs responded with a goal of their own, when on a corner, sophomore Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, NY) passed a perfectly placed ball to fellow sophomore Dee Viveiros (Tiverton, RI) and she blasted it passed the Saint Michael’s goalkeeper for the score.

Saint Michael’s poured it on in the second scoring two goals to take home the win. First junior Nikki Pickman (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) scored what proved to be the game-winner when she got an assist from classmate Amber Holcomb (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) and scored. She was followed three minutes later when Lagasse scored her second goal of the game to take home the 3-1 win.
