PURPLE KNIGHT MEN EDGED BY MERRIMACK, 5-4

Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Senior Andy Severance (Gouldsboro, Maine) rallied for a three-set win in No. 6 singles to lift Merrimack College (1-3, 1-2 NE-10) to a 5-4 win versus Saint Michael’s College (2-1, 1-1 NE-10) in Northeast-10 Conference tennis action on Saturday on the outdoor courts.
Severance also teamed with freshman John Seaward (Pomfret, Conn.) to win in No. 3 doubles, while Seaward also recorded a victory in fourth singles.
For the Purple Knights, sophomore Andy Samara (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) earned victories in both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, partnering with junior Andrew Bolduc (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington). Freshman John Lescure (Kennebunk, Maine/Berwick Academy) also notched two victories, in No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles with sophomore Torr Terranova (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand).
The Saint Michael’s men next play at Franklin Pierce College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Merrimack plays at Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday, with the women at 10:30 a.m. and the men at 1 p.m.

Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Freshman Brittany Holmes (Westford, Mass.) notched a straight-set win in No. 6 singles to lift Merrimack College (2-2, 1-1 NE-10) to a 5-4 win versus Saint Michael’s College (2-2, 1-2 NE-10) in Northeast-10 Conference tennis action on Saturday on the outdoor courts.
The Warriors also received a strong performance from junior Alison Mincareli (Glastonbury, Conn.), as she earned a 6-4, 6-4 win in No. 4 singles and teamed with senior Meghan Weller (Norwalk, Conn.) for an 8-6 victory in No. 1 doubles.
For the Purple Knights, junior Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./Ponaganset) earned a three-set win in third singles, and partnered with sophomore Megan Conway (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) for an 8-5 triumph in No. 2 doubles. Senior Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) and freshman Molly Harrison (Windham, N.H./Salem) also won in straight sets in second and fifth singles, respectively.
The Saint Michael’s women next host Saint Anselm College on Sunday at 12 p.m. Merrimack plays at Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
