Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Junior Kaitlyn Rae (Wibraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) tallied a match-high 13 kills, 12 digs and three service aces as Saint Michael’s College opened its home schedule with a 3-0 win versus Plattsburgh State University in volleyball action on Tuesday at the Ross Sports Center. The Purple Knights rallied for a 30-24 win in the first game, cruised to a 30-13 victory in game two, and completed the sweep with a 30-22 triumph in the third game.
For Saint Michael’s (2-10 overall), which snapped an eight-match losing skid, junior Jess Mulroy (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) notched a match-high 30 assists. Senior Lindsey Shumway (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills) added 10 kills, seven digs and three service aces, while classmate Stephanie Robbins (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills) tallied 10 digs.
The Cardinals were led by junior Jennifer Maziarz (Northampton, Pa.), who recorded 10 kills, and classmate Melissa Luciano (Stony Point, N.Y.) tallied 11 assists. Sophomores Lauren Keough (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and Lindsay Levi (Middletown, N.Y.) each posted a team-high 10 digs for Plattsburgh (3-14).
Saint Michael’s returns to action on Saturday, as the Purple Knights host Northeast-10 Conference rivals Assumption College and American International College. Saint Michael’s plays the Greyhounds at 10 a.m., followed by the Yellow Jackets at 1:30 p.m.
