SMC GOLF 11TH AT NORTHEAST-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Courtesy Le Moyne Sports Information Phone: (802) 654-2537MARCELLUS, N.Y. - Four Bryant University golfers finished among the top five places to lead the Bulldogs to their 19th Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship. The Bulldogs combined for a two-day total of 597 strokes to win the title by 20 strokes over host Le Moyne College.
Assumption College junior Jeff Furtado (Warwick, R.I.) shot a one-over par 145 (72-73) to edge Bryant's Dan Falcucci (Northboro, Mass.) by two strokes (71-76*147) for the individual medallist honors at the par 72, 6,700 yard course at Links at Sunset Ridge in Marcellus, N.Y. Falcucci has been the runner-up at the conference championship three times. Le Moyne's Mike Lesch (Auburn, N.Y.) and Tom LeMond (Dracut, Mass.) of UMass Lowell shot 149 to tie for third overall. Bryant's Dan Falcucci (Northboro, Mass.), Jim O'Connell (Troy, N.Y.) and Brandon Smith (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished in a tie for fifth with 151 scores.
Furtado is the first Assumption College golfer to earn the Gordon McCullough Memorial Award as the medalist. Pace's Mike Dominici (Norwalk, Conn.) carded the top score among all freshmen. His 155 (79-76), 12th place finish, earned him Freshman of the Year. Bryant head coach Archie Boulet was named Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year for the 18th time. The top seven finishers were named first-team all-Northeast-10 Conference and the next nine earned second-team all-conference recognition.
