    PURPLE KNIGHTS DEFEATED BY THE RIVER HAWKS, 3-1

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College volleyball team (0-4, 0-3 NE-10) dropped its fourth consecutive match of the season, 3-1 (30-18, 30-23, 28-30, 30-21) to the University of Massachusetts Lowell (8-2, 2-1 NE-10) on Saturday at the Ross Sports Center.

The River Hawks, who were backed by Katie Harrington’s (Rochester, N.H./Spaulding) match high 16 kills, took the first two games, and the Purple Knights were able to take the third, winning their first set of the season, before losing the fourth by a 30-21 score.
Junior Caitlin Harte (East Rochester, N.H./Spaulding) took credit for 54 of the team’s 56 recorded assists and also picked up three service aces, as classmate Bridget Raley (Arvada, Colo./Arvada) helped out with 16 digs.

For the Purple Knights, freshman Stephanie Smetana (Independence, Mo./Truman) led the team in both kills and digs, with 15 and 16 respectively and fellow first year player Amy Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) led SMC with 38 assists.

The Purple Knights return to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Saint Anselm to take on the Hawks at 7:30 p.m.
